In a recent operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of the West Bengal Police successfully apprehended a smuggler, identified as Minarul Shaikh (38) from Kaliganj in Nadia district. The STF team, led by SP IPS Indrajit Basu, executed the arrest after receiving credible information on Tuesday night. A strategic cordon was laid near the Baharampur Mohana bus stand in Murshidabad district, leading to the suspect's capture upon arrival.
Upon thorough inspection, the authorities discovered counterfeit notes amounting to Rs 1.08 lakh in the possession of Minarul Shaikh. All the seized notes are in the denomination of Rs 500 and exhibit high-quality replication. The STF has registered a case against the smuggler at the Baharampur police station.
